Default Calling all arm chair mechanics

2001 Disco. 86000 miles on her. Today I got in her and was driving when she felt like she was sputtering on occasions. Sort of a surge, jump but not all the time. 2 miles down the road and my Service engine light came on. It will be Tuesday before I can get her to my mechanic. Who wants to take a guess as to what might be making her sick?

Get the codes pulled at any auto parts store, no surprises then.

Obviously you need to get the codes read or we cannot help you. Looking into my crystal ball my guess would be new wires, go with magnacor 8mm from Apex Performance.

I'm pretty sure the #4 lobe on the camshaft has a 1mm pit in it. You'll have to remove it and give it a dollop of JB weld and you'll be good to go...

No way, it's clearly the "johnson rod" it always is.

Actually you might be right. I hadn't thought about that. Normally when the Heizenberg Couplers are out of spec, it'll lead to a premature johnson rod failure. And when the johnson rod goes, duck, because it get's messy in a real hurry. I concur. It's definitely a blown johnson rod...
