If I'm not mistaken those two D1's were pushed into that deep river as part of a challenge. They recovered them and got em running.

Man, I love that one. It’s great even if you’re not into Rovers.

That was a special time in Land Rover history. There was no drone footage, no slow motion, no crappy music, no special effects. Just raw man and vehicle conquering the world. It was the Olympics for the ultimate 4x4. Met one of the drivers for that event at OE East in 2016 at the Biltmore.

Yep LR was indeed in it's prime during all that. Sadly at the time no one ever thought that would all come to an end. When I saw my very first XD D1 in person I fell in love with LR's but being 18 there was no way I could afford one back then. I went to several LR big event parties and I did get to meet several people from the 94 La Ruta Maya event, and I even was given an original event patch! Sadly I've lost that patch over the years, but the memories will be with me forever! During the 94 D90/D1 party they had Camel Trophy video's playing, they even had an early Series I LR on display. Nothing like seeing a brand new 94 D90 with a tire on the hood, no roof, and a 28K window sticker!!! Lord if I could go back in time I'd buy as many as I could. The LR3 party was also pretty fancy, but all the tough LR off road stuff was gone and we all agreed 87-04 was LR in the USA prime time.

This is how you drive a Land Rover!

I am also impressed by what they could do with their narrow tires.
