Wait wait wait, you were changing the oil every 9,000 miles?
Sheesh, give the guy a break! He said he bought the car with 49,000 miles on the clock. Let's assume he changes at 55,000 and again at 61,000 and, as he said, on his way for his third change at 67,000 miles. That's 6,000 intervals.

In addition, he also said that the dealer replaced the oil pan gasket during one of the repairs. I would seriously doubt if the interval is even near LR' boundaries, but you have already tried and convicted him. What a constructive post.

That is the mileage and number of oil changes. The first at 56,325 miles. The next one at 63,817 to be exact. Maybe I should have said that during the first and second repair that the dealer changed the oil each time.

If your cam shaft broke, you could not start your engine, that being said, if you drove it to the mechanic the he has guessed wrong and should look a little closer at the engine to see what exactly is wrong.

Heard the noise on the way home from home depot. Called the land rover dealer and drove it 30 miles to the dealership the very next day.

Default Camshaft failure

Just keep in mind that if youre playing camshaft games...the Nailhead uses non-tapered cam lobes and non-convex lifter bottoms.

Better make sure the cam company knows that before they grind you a special.

So, call the dealer back and ask how it could be a cam shaft, when the engine is still able to start?

ALL THE B.S. WAS A RESULT OF MECHANICAL FAILURE OF THE OILPUMP. THE DEALER SAID THAT PIECES FROM INSIDE THE OILPUMP BROKE OFF AND WERE SENT THROUGH THE PUMP INTO THE ENGINE. OUR SERVICE AND CARE OF THE VEHICLE WAS MORE THAN ADEQUATE. THE WARRANTY COMPANY HAS SPRUNG FOR A NEW ENGINE!!!!
