Default Can I install an armrest on the door side of drivers seat?

There isn't really a good place to ergonomically and comfortably rest my left arm while driving, so it occurred to me perhaps the seat upper might actually be the same on the drivers and passenger sides: as in perhaps the mounting hole for the arm rest is on both sides of both seats. If it it, that might make this a very easy project.
Does anyone know if the hole is there? Has anyone done this?
Also: I don't wish to get bogged down in discussions of safety or anything. I'm not concerned about the measured risks.
Thanks!

I was going to post this anyway, but as there is already an armrest thread about holes.

Anyone know if my S seats have holes that are simply waiting for an armrest?

Don't quote me on that. I only checked for holes on the 'correct' side of the seats, ie the side where they would normally go. And the is definitely something there, underneath the pleather.

I'm not at my car again until Friday to check.

I was looking to install armrest for Range Rover Sport S seats without armrest, so there is what I found. You have to weld that armrest holder to seat frame.
