Can these rusty coils be saved?
Id like to swap the suspension system from my parts truck to my driver but man they look like ****! Rusty as all hell. Anyways I contacted a local forge and they quoted me $200 to sandblast and paint 4 coils and 4 shocks. So you guys think these can be saved or too far gone. Suspension is a TerraFirma 3" HD lift installed new in late 2012. They have seen much abuse.......
My daily driver is still running original factory coils and springs mind you 215k and heavily loaded with roof rack, steel bumper, winch, hi-lift and bunch of other ****. Figured Id throw these on until Im ready to upgrade to Old Man Emu.

Hi TRIARR II
Yep, just rust stop them and paint them up. They are hard working high tensile steel so they tend to rust easily.
You need to replace your shock towers soon though or they will be taking a trip through the hood! They make galvanised skeletal type now.
I use these:
Disco 2 Heavy Duty Shock Absorber Turrets - Pair - Galvanised - Paddock Spares

No worries about the shock towers because Id be installing these coils/shocks on my rust free truck. I just dont want the rust to spread to my flawless frame plus I want the coils/shocks to look nice. The OME kit Im looking at is around $800 so spending $200 now for a professional sand blasting followed with a epoxy primer and high heat paint seems the way to go. I was just concerned that the rust may have done too much damage to be saved.
