not sure if they are the originals or not, i'm getting a vibration around 20-40mph when accelerating only. i think it could be the drive shaft but not sure. let me know if you think these are the originals, if so i know they suck and need to be replaced. they look original to me.

You dont need to replace them just rebuild them.

 

got any recommendations for where to get the parts? i searched rover north and AB and couldnt find a good kit. would it just have to be piece by piece?

 

If you only have 1 grease fitting on that front shaft, it is original. You can order the parts anywhere but if you haven't rebuilt a double cardon drive shaft before, your's is not one to practice on. Find a drive line shop, tranny shop or someone who has done lots of them before, make sure they replace both the u-joint with greasable one and a new centering ball kit.

 

The parts list is on the forum somewhere, sorry but I dont know where.
You can buy the u-joints and centering ball at NAPA, ~70 in total for parts. Thats 2 u-joints and the centering ball.
But I agree with Mike, take the truck to a driveline shop and have it done, ~$200.

 

thanks Mike, helpful as always. will start asking around for local shops with good reps. gotta get it done soon, wouldnt want the transfer case or tranny being destroyed.

 

If you want to upgrade you could order a beefy driveshaft from Tom Woods for $365 shipped.

Look for 344 Precision u-joints and a 617 centering ball kit, or cross reference them over to Spicer.
