Or more often. Especially, if you do any serious water crossing or mud holes deeper than your axle shafts.

Axle shaft, pinion, trans, transfercase, engine crank seals are designed to keep fluids in...not out.

Any update, caroba? We'd like to know what the cause of your truck's problems turned out to be.

Hey sorry I've been so out of touch over the last two weeks yall!

I dropped the truck off with the only shop in the area (Gallup, NM) that would work on foreign vehicles. I liked the shop staff and feel fairly confident that they'll take care of her. Even though it breaks my heart to leave that truck in the hands of strangers 1000 miles away, I needed to get to work in California ASAP and couldn't miss any more days.. The shop is taking their sweet time and I'll give them a call for an update monday morning. Last I spoke with them, they hadn't cracked open the Tcase yet, but they agreed that was probably the issue based on the way the truck was behaving. I have 6 more weeks of working out here before I will be ready to come pick it up so I don't mind them taking their time as long as they end up doing good work.

Speaking of which, I am trying to work with them on the replacement part. I want a Tcase with the cpaability of locking the CDL. I don't necessarily need them to install a linkage and all that as I could do it myself but am I right in thinking that we could order any Tcase from a 2004 disco (automatic) and it will not only fit, but also have the ability to lock out the CDL? I thought that was the case in my research but I would love if you guys could confirm that before I pull the trigger...

Thanks again for the thoughts and support -- yall are the best!

99 - Manufactured Prior to 2002. What this means is as long as the 2002 was built prior to Jan 1 2002, it will have a CDL nipple. Mine is an 02 built in Dec 01.

Yep my 02 Kalahari was 11/01 build and it has CDL. It’s also a good idea later on to slap in an 03-04 SLABS unit with the latest firmware. It has the best config for TC/ABS vs earlier SLABS unit’s and it makes CDL 100% PNP with no mod’s required.
