Default CB radios

I'm thinking about getting a CB radio. No, I'm not being nostalgic for that old song, "Convoy," but I know that some of the Land Rover club members around here use them for communicating on group outings. Anyway, I would rather get a portable device then a under the dash kind. I've been looking at a MIDLAND 75-822 40 Channel and a Cobra HH ROAD TRIP

Any opinions? Boy is that a dumb question, everyone here has plenty of opinions on just about everything!

Are you planning on using it outside the vehicle? I am leaning toward a Cobra 75WX radio, the all in the handset unit. I've always had good luck with Cobra radios but my beloved Cobra 29 won't quite fit in the Disco. Have you given any thoughts about where you'll mount your antenna?

I saw one for sale here in my area and it was mounted on that plactic peice near where homelink is. It was pretty thin, and I liked the way it looked. Looked safari-sih to me.
Also,it looked like it would be easy to work with, I've never thought about it but the disco doesnt have a really ideal place place for a CB...

I want one of the new Cobra 29 with bluetooth technology. I just need a vehicle large enough to put it in. Guess it's time to buy a semi.

Map pockets above the driver is a good place to mount a CB.

that's what i was thinking... someone did an "overhead console" with CB and some other things on another forum, but i can't find the link.

i want to do that with a Land Meter, CB and Scanguage II where the drivers side map pockets are.

I saw something similar to that but they installed the radio where the sunroof switches are since that particular vehicle didn't have sunroofs. The homelink I would think would be too shallow for a CB. My homelink doesn't work so I'm thinking of finding a better use for that space. Maybe a filler plate and a make a switch panel there.
