CD Changer Disco II
#12
I am in the market for the disc cartridge for the DII. Mine was missing when I bought it. I have everything else, just need the cartridge that holds the 6 discs...lol
Any websites that sell them? Spike do you know which Harmon Kardon model it is?

The CD changer is an Alpine. I bought an Alpine CD changer for my RX-7 in about 1995, and it uses the same cartridge as the factory changer in my DII. You could probably find a cartridge online for a mid '90s Alpine unit. Tonight, I'll see if I can find the model number I have in my RX-7.

Yeah but it's 30 bucks versus taking the seat off, installing another one etc. That's a lot of work. I would rather just risk 30 bucks lol
I am running the IPod via the tapedeck now so it's not that big a deal. Just trying to keep things original.
Thanks for pulling the model number from your RX7 morpheus, that will be a good start for web searches.
Heck I might try salvaging some pawn shops.

Alpine cd changer model #5960 is what I have in my RX-7 and the magazine is identical to the Land Rover DII magazine.
Also, you don't need to remove the seat to take out the CD changer. You will need to remove the lower seat trim, both in the front, and the door side. I strongly recommend removing the relays from their mounting tabs so your hands get less scarred. I used a 1/4" socket wrench with extension (I forget socket size) to remove the 4 nuts holding it to the floor.
I've had my changer out at least 4 times in the past 3 years for various reasons, and can now get it out in about 10 minutes.
*It helps to have small girlish hands*
