Default CDL Instal Problem

Ok, I installed the housing for the CDL from a discovery 1.

The CDL shifter was easy to set up but the 4H and 4L lever was more of a trick that I haven't been able to do. Now when the vehicle is in "4H" and with the CDL in the off position, it feels like the CDL is on. When I let off the gas when driving it slows down dramatically like something isn't correct.

Is it possible that the CDL is stuck? The light turns off when it is in the normal position but it feels like it is still on.

To determine if the CDL is engaged, go to a large parking lot and very slowly try and do a full tight turn, make circles left and right. If it feels like the front end is binding up, you will need to adjust the linkage cause you are locked up.
Make sure to do this ASAP, cause if you are locked up, you can damage your drive line.

Well William(urq) came up to help me with the CDL linkage, turns out the piece that you have to bend needed a bit more work and he got everything in there correctly.

Everything shifts correctly and all lights work! I'm excited to test this CDL out.

Glad I could help out, your D1 CDL was much more of a pain in the butt to get adjusted properly.
Mine was so easy to do.
But got it done just as the sun set for the night :-)

Well everything is put back now, took a few after photos and I also took it for a spin on some steep ruts that I know where I loose lots of traction and normally have to gun it to get it, not as amazing as front/rear lockers but much better! Especially for a total of $20 with parts and some drinks.

Thanks again William, saved me a few hundred bucks no doubt!

Also you can see when it came to cutting the plate, I had to remove it a few times to make it fit correctly so I just went a bit extreme on the last run and it worked out well. Also used screws instead of putting rivet back to hold the plate.

Also I would also like to note that the curvy linkage is a pain.

And you cut that hole a bit big on the top plate! And where is that rubber boot that seals around that hole you should silicone that to the top plate.

I went back and put it in, forgot it the first time around when I was fitting everything. I had to cut the plate more, the shifter was hitting it and preventing a smooth shift. After greasing it is smooth as can be

that hole is nothing compared to mine. could have cut it a little straighter though. looks like you can lose a finger if you have to reach down there.
