Cdl install
I'm gonna purchase a cdl shifter off ebay and before I do want to make sure I won't need anything else. Yes, I have an early '01 w/ a cdl. I used it when I rebuilt my prop shaft.
The shifter listed on ebay looks complete has the shifter boot and all.
I wont need any kind of plate or anything, right. It should just bolt right up, no? Just want to make sure I have everything I need before tearing out the center console.
Thanks

If it's complete with the boot, it should have everything. I'd double check to make sure you're getting all the little parts that attach directly to the CDL nipple though...
Also, a word of advice...when you put the console back together replace the rivets that you've drilled out with sheet metal screws. You'll be back in there eventually and don't want to have to drill the rivets out again...

read my very recent post... its BOLT in sure, but theres a good of work to be done... first step is getting all bolts and replacement rivets, and making sure you have a way of connecting the hi/lo shifter cable. mine required bending and adjusting the lever arm, putting it at a different angle, and making custom washers with copper to run the small bolt through to connect the shifte to the actuator on the xfer case (the xfer case hole is smaller then the pin/clip that fits on the cdl lever.
also, plate has to be opened up so far that you can not reuse it with the old shifter, so make sure its in and WORKS before cutting the plate, or you wont be able to reattach the old shifter that bolts to it, ever again haha. and, the foam that has the slit on it has to be cut obviously to make room for the left/right movement, so there is alot more road noise comming up through the shifter port, reguardless of the rubber gaitor and boot cover being in place.
if i were gunna do it again i would just get the ascroft shifter, however rediculosuly overpriced it is. 4 bolts, minor cutting and you are done basically... no noise increase, no custom bolts/washers, no chasing/cleaning threads etc
