D2 setup hands down! Heck some D1 guys even run the OEM 04 D2 Linkage or the Ashcroft linkage setup vs the D1 config. If you have any LKQ's in your area watch them until an 04 pops up. I've bought them for as low as 18.00 for everything minus the SLABS Unit to 35.00 (just depends on the yard and the woman behind the counter).

I usually grab the just black shifter plate and the linkage. 03 SLABS Units fully support CDL function, and the Interlock solenoid should be in the same location as the 04 so just route the cable, connect it to the TC, connect the wiring up for the Interlock Solenoid, install shifter plate with #14 1/2 screws, and you'll be ready to rock n roll. If you truly want the OEM 94-99 D1 look or the 04 D2 look you'd want to grab the CDL Shifter **** as well.

Don’t you replace it because it will disable traction control , another thread I just found talks about that https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...install-12888/

If you have an 03 that SLABS Unit fully supports CDL. You don’t have to touch a thing.
99-02 SLABS are the ones that require you to mess with a wire (if you shut off the D2 with CDL engaged & restart it triggers the amigos). However on 99-02’s just simply disengage CDL, restart & the amigos should go away. If you modify the SLABS wire on 99-02 then it’s fine, but I personally prefer the 03-04 SLABS Units due to better firmware for better TC/ABS function.
