I am lucky and just need the linkage in my 2001 but just don't want to spend the 500 on the linkage. I need to find a junkyard with a disco. I know a d1 linkage works but with a little tweaking. I read on one post which I can't find anymore that some used an aircraft control arm to rig something up. Not to mention the project takes a bit of time. Do you just need the linkage too or the internals?

You need the linkage and shifter and can make a d I set up work without the little air craft part. You cant just ad the linkage to your factory D II shifter. Everything depends on what month in 2001 your truck was built some have the internal gears and some don't. If you want to buy a D I shifter you can pm me but none of that was related to my original question.

Are you asking if you can take the CDL linkage from an 04 and place it on an 01? I believe you can. I used one from a 98 D1 and used the control arm method.

Here is what he was talking about the control arm. It does not have to be for aircraft. Just happens the one that was used in the original was. I'm the one that posted finding the control arm on Amazon etc. To me it is a cleaner and easier way to go then bending the arm.

Yes that's my question i have put in a few with the D I setup. But did not want to cut the whole and all the stuff to put in the D I in this truck. I was looking to see if the 04 setup is a direct fit meaning i eould have no cutting or blacksmithing lol i am just wandering if the 04 fits just like the Ashcroft cable setup?
