Cdl vs traction control

If you run with the CDL engaged, along with the ETC working, that will give you the best pulling power. If though, you turn off the engine whiles the cdl is engaged, you will disable the ABD, HD and ETC giving you less traction. If you need to turn off your engine, disengage the CDL and wait for the light to go off, then you will retain all the ABS functions.

I had planned to get it sorted out and ready for a trip to Toroweap, and all worked out aside from the fact I ran out of time and didn't manage to get the heater core swapped out before the trip, so I didn't venture out as far as planned in case the weather got really nasty (happens fast in the Az strip). I did manage to do the honeymoon trail and spend a fair amount of time in the Warner Valley and Hurricane dunes.
I've already handed over the Red rover to my girl and begun to build up a 92 RRC for all out off-road use. So the Red Rover becomes the diaper wagon (quite capable one at that) and the old Range Rover LSE becomes the adventure mobile.

Traction control and CDL
I've owned my disco 2 for just over a year. I've done a lot of wheeling, rocking crawling, mud etc.
I used only the TC for the first few trips out and it worked very well. THe only problem was it sometimes took a second to engage.
I finally got around to activating my CDL this past summer, mostly because my three amigos kept going off and it happened once on the trail which really sucked.
With the CDL engaged it was WAY WAY better then the TC. And then when the TC kicked in with the CDL engaged...wow, the D2 was unstoppable. Very very impressed.
I would strongly recommend the CDL activation mainly because the three amigos are so fickle and can pop up anytime...anywhere.
