Center diff rattle on front output section of t-case. '00 Disco II
I just installed a new front prop shaft bc of some rattling noise and I found a worn ujoint at the transfer case side of the shaft. After I installed the new one I still noticed a rattle when driving in forward or reverse. I jacked it up and pulled the front shaft and ran it in drive. The noise is definitely coming from the transfer case. There is no play in the front output flange but it seems like the noise is coming from the front output portion of the tcase.
So far I engaged the CDL and am just driving it in RWD. Does anyone know the issue with this? Is it as simple as removing the flange and shaft and replacing the bearing? At the most just removing the front output portion of the tcase?
If the tcase needs a complete overhaul I'd rather just leave it in RWD and scrap all my off-road build plans for it. I'm just worried leaving it how it is will ruin the tcase somewhere down the road. I'm not worried about the rotoflex. I have a spare one and I can just convert to a double cardon jointed driveshaft.
Any input for my situation would be greatly appreciated.
thank you!
