Unhappy Changed my own oil but now i have an oil leak

Please help. I decided to change my own oil on my 03 Disco and it went really easy. Used 6.1 Qts of Mobil1 10w-40 high mileage and Mobil1-301 and was pleased ow easy and quickly it went and how cheap but NOW i noticed a small pancake of new oil on my garage floor. I looked up and the oil filer is wet with a drip waiting to fall.

What now? will it stop or should i change the filter to somethin else?

I noticed that the filter was taller than the white Land Rover filter i took off.

TIA

Two things to check..

First, if you still have the old filter, in the trash or whatever look to see if the rubber ring is still on it, sometimes they come off of the old filter and if they stay on the engine when you put the new filter on with two O-Rings then they wont seal..

Second, when you put the new filter on did you smear some old engine oil on the new O-Ring?? This is important to help it slide as its being threaded instead of grabbing and twisting out of place.

The oil filter should be on hand tight..

The filter is the proper one, as mentioned, see if the old seal is still in the oil filter holder.
Where exactly is the oil leaking from?

Bringing up this old thread instead of starting a new one.

I bought the 2003 Disco II about a month ago from a local Rover dealer. After a day or 2 at home I noticed a small puddle of oil on the garage floor. Crawled under and found oil dripping from the filter. I was able to get about a half turn by hand on the filter. Still had leak. I changed the oil and went with a new WIX filter and 5w30 Mobil-1 EP oil. I made sure seat was good and clean and oiled the new filter. Still have the leak...any ideas? I never saw if the issue was solved on this thread or not?
Thanks for the help
