From what Ive researched its no easy task to put in a aftermarket amp because it requires rewiring the system. Do you have any experience with this?
i got the factory hk premium sound system and even with the engine shut off and the volume down, there is a humm. I've added a ton of amps in my days and it is very easy man. Find you a good amp you want and get a good wiring kit. The only thing that is hard is wiring the power to the battery and properly hiding it (I'm OCD) and the new head unit should have pre amp outs in the back. I'm gonna end up swapping everything out for Memphis car audio and then a Memphis marine amp in case the sunroofs fail me at a later date!!! For wiring kits and such, check out http://www.sonicelectronix.com they have the best prices and ship quick as hell from cali. If you make a cart and sign up and don't check out, they will usually send you a coupon for 5-10% off a day or two later. I've always used them for my stuff. They used to carry Memphis so I have to go elsewhere now for the speakers but they carry 99% of the brands. I got the head unit and the adapter to keep my steering wheel controls and it came with a free harness and the fitting kit and I paid like $139.99 with 2 day shipping!!!

And your amp shouldn't be hooked up like the cd changer. If you want to get rid of your amp, sonic electronix has a Sony head unit with a 140 watt amp built in where you can remove your amp all together

I don't want to hijack your thread but lets say I replace my amp, don't I have to run new speaker wires and then put in 4 crossovers? After looking through the Rave electrical diagrams it looks like the factory amp is not wired in such a way that I could use the existing wiring.

Right now I have a pioneer HU that I could run the speakers off (idk how many watts is its) but I would still need crossovers to power the 4 front tweeters and 2 bass speakers and then 2 crossovers for the back 2 tweets and 2 bass speakers. (The rear subs have been eliminated) Im planning on doing a new sub eventually with its own amp.

the aftermark amp would only power the aftermarket sub. The only way to power the speakers would be using the crossovers, or using a head unit with a built in amp.

I think I understand, I'm going to give it a go with the aftermarket amp. I might shoot you a message on here if I can't figure it out if you don't mind.
