Default Changing AT filter. Torx REALLY tight...

Took of the oil sump and I'm trying to take the filter of. The torx screws are incredibly tight! If I were to force them loose, is there anything I may break? I don't want to be spraying Deep Creep in that area either...

Are those torx screws T25's? There seems to be a little play... between the tool and the screw...

Suggestions?

Tx!!

How many miles on the tranny?
The filter doesn't really need to be changed, per the owners manual, till the 120K mark.
Do you know the correct process to refill the tranny?

The AT has 116K, so it is about time... I have done it before and have RAVE if I run into trouble. Bought a bottle of LUCAS to add to the new fluid to see if that will get rid of the high pitch sound I hear when the gear shifts from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3. I took out the AT fluid about 1000 miles ago, and plan on doing it once more in a few weeks. Hopefully that will get all the old stuf out.

Thanks!

Sounds like you have everything under control.

Uhhmmm... Kind of...

Doing the AT is so messy! But I'm done...

I noticed the filter had a black layer on it. Both sides. It wiped right of with a rag, but I was just curious to know if this is normal. The magnet on the inside of the oil sump had some sludge on it, but nothing major.

Now up to Harbor Freight for a scanner to find out which codes I have...

Thanks Mike!

Yeah, I noticed the same thing when I pulled the pan on my '01. Not sure what it was. But for having a hole in the transmission, it shifts pretty well!

The bolts are T27, not T25. That's why there is play. Get the right size so you don't strip the bolts. Someone just asked the same question not long ago which is the only reason I know.

When I took out my torx screws I got the t27 bit and put it inside a socket that it fit into, then used a ratchet to remove them

Yep, T27. I asked about it not too long ago. I almost found out the hard way that they're not T25!

I went to Autozone and bought a whole new set. I don't remember now which one I used, but they came undone with the ratchet.

Anybody know if the black film is normal? It was on the filter, but not on the pan or the AT itself...
