Default Chasing O2 Codes after O2 replacement

You can see the patch on the left. What is real name of the flex tube and T bar so I can order replacements?

Looking for some ideas...Recently had a new AB short block installed in my 2003 Disco. The installer botched the initial install and after several months of arguments, lawyers etcs (with the installer, not AB).... got a new replacement AB short block and the job done right - well almost right!

When I picked up the truck, the CEL light was on with the codes 154,134, 155 and 135. Essentially, bank 1 and 2 forward O2 sensor heater circuit and no activity. After the initial, flawed install, the vehicle was backfiring badly and was pulling codes for exhaust leak. They smoke tested it at the time and identified the leaks and and welded them close. When I got it back after the second install, they saw the new codes above and attributed it to the initial backfiring damaging the forward O2 sensors. They should have taken care of it! But, as you guess, our relationship wasn't real good at that point and I told them to give it back to me and I would replace the sensors myself.

The only other anomaly at the time of pick up after the second install was a small hole in the flex tube coming off a cross bar on the passenger side of the engine block. Picture attached. Sorry, don't know exactly what this part is called. Again, they should have ID'd and fixed this (it wasn't there when I brought the truck in), but they put a patch on it instead. Some sort of high temperature glop with a heat resistant fabric clamped over top. You can see in the picture.

Fast forward, I replaced the O2 sensors, but I am still getting the same codes coming back after I erased the initial codes. I realize that this could be the residual adaptation codes that I can't reset coming back and that after a 100 miles or so, it might clear out. But, of course, I'm obsessing.

My question, after replacing the O2 sensors, and if the codes don't clear, what else should I check? Is it possible that the patch on the flex tube mentioned above and in the picture is not fully sealing and perhaps this might be causing a vacuum leak and be related to the codes? I'm going there first as that happened at the same time as these codes originally appearing. What exactly is the flex tube and cross bar called, as I need to go ahead and replace this anyway?

Any other ideas? New plugs, new wires. Forward O2 sensors replaced. Recent smoke test.

Thanks!

Check for exhaust leaks around the cats. I had a similar issue and found out the welds on the driver side cats were shot

Check the O2 sensors connectors. Mighr be oily inside thats probably why you have the o2 codes. The part is the SAI valve tubes.

Default Indeed

yes your “patch” is on the Secondary Air Injection. I’d be asking them to replace the pipe. Looks like they couldn’t find an 18mm crows foot and twisted the pipe.

Thanks.
Could a leak in the SAI tube contribute to the O2 codes in any way?
I will have it tested for exhaust leaks, but curious if the two issues aren't related?

Default Leak in SAI tubes

Yes...a leak in secondary air injection could cause an O2 sensor error. They have one for sale on EBay for $199, part number WAP500050 Secondary Air Injection pipe.
