Default Cheap P0308 fix?

Hey all...

I married a girl and she had baggage...a 2000 Discovery.

We've now had a failed driveshaft, bad O2 sensor, head gasket leak, waterfall effect and a few other issues.

2 days ago got P0308.
Changed the plugs yesterday and still have the issue.

I don't really want to waste time and money on this beast anymore, but can't have her driving around like this. It's still got power, but idles rough. No overheating.

Do I have to change all the wires? Can I just buy and replace #8?
Anyone every heard of just buying one wire?

The problem is that I'm in Chicago and she's in Indianapolis right now so I don't have a ton of time to change all the wires right now.

Thanks for any advice.

You could do just one wire, they do sell singles at Napa. You'll probably have to take one with to match it up and wait a few days for it to come in though.

Did you try swapping the number 8 wire with another wire to see if the miss followed?

Ah...no I didn't try swapping.

Jeez, that'd be an easy way to diagnose...duh. Thanks.

If you dont want to wait, NAPA sells the set for like $30-40.

$40? That's pretty cheap. What brand would that be?

The good news is your almost half way through the high mile major service regimen!!

Check the "major service" sticky at the top of this forum, do the rest of the items yourself and your lady will have a fine reliable vehicle for a lot more miles!!

Sweet, I was looking at the wiring diagram and it looks like 8 is the top one into the coil pack and also the closest to the firewall.

Hope I don't break anything.
