Wait for the next mobil 1 sale at advanced auto as they have the 5w40 TDT. They have these sales all year long at both advanced and autozone though almost constantly between the 2.

lipadj46, thanks for this post! I stopped at Auto Zone after seeing this last night and picked up the Mobile 1 301 filter and 6 quarts of Mobile 1 5w40 TDT for right around $40. Dude that rung me up said "Sumbitch, you saved $19!!" Plan on going back at least 1 or 2 more times before the sale ends Jan 13th.

The new Rotella T6 5w40 is a great oil (I have 3 gallons in my cupboard) but the mobil 1 5w40 TDT is better oil for less money when you get the 5 quarts + m1 filter for $30.

Just as an additional option, Wal-Mart sells 5+ quart jugs of Mobil 1 5w30 for $22. A stop at Napa for a Wix filter on the way home is another $7, so it works out about the same.

Best,
Dave

I never understood why NAPA charges a premium for Wix filters with the NAPA logo. I buy the WIX 51515 for $4 and change.

Went to Autozone to pick up some Mobil 10W30 for $28.99. Then went to O'Reily's, they sell for cheaper, $26.99-- and its not even on sale.

The cheapest Wix they sell for the Discovery is like $4. But, I figure I'm driving a Land Rover and should be able to afford the best one I can get, right?
