Default Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep.

Happy Christmas all.

Not been around much lately. Mainly because the disco has been running really great. Having spent a good few months after first owning getting things up to scratch, it really is quite bullet proof. Apart from.........

So over 3 years ago. I bought a fully serviceable front drive shaft, then promptly never serviced it, once.

I’m ashamed, but it doesn’t alter the fact that its chirping.

Can I get away with giving it a good greasing, which I know will shut it up, but is it just not worth it? Do I have to pay for my idiocy with the price of a new DS?

Alternatively, does anyone want to part Ex a slightly abused one, with a less so item?

Seasons greetings folks.

I hate to say it but rebuild or replace. $200 on a driveshaft is still way cheaper than a tranny

I would start over and maintain the new one promptly. Chirping could be the spine itself and weak. You can visually and physically inspect the shaft if any part is loose. Depending on the posisition of the joint, sometimes its hard to tell. Happy holidays.

X3.... After 3 years of neglect, I'd start from scratch and get a new driveshaft just to be on the safe side.

Not a lot most likely. Just pull it lock the CDL and roll rear wheel drive. Lucky8 opens back up on Thursday.

Don't all rush eh

That could have been an expensive escapade Cappedup, thankfully it never broke and smashed the tranny.

You'll note that it is only the Cardan that has the Tweety Pie inside it due to the geometry and center ball arrangement whereas the other UJ's rarely 'let go' even if un-greased
