Default Chunky metal on transfer case drain plug

Hey all - did my diffs and tcase oil change yesterday. Front and rear diffs, while having really old oil, had only the typical fine dust attached to their magnets. The transfer case however had some small slivers of metal. Thin and maybe 1mm by 2mm in size. I haven't noticed any issues while driving - both front and rear shafts are tight with no real end or side play. The oil was pretty low when I drained it. How worried should I be? It shifts fine into 4lo and back again. What are the likely culprits that may get damaged and shed some flakes? I am hoping getting the correct amount of fluid in will help mitigate whatever was done by the PO's lack of maintenance.

I did do some searching on the forum with no success.

Thanks!

If it was me, I’d replace the oil and drive it a while and then recheck it. If it’s clean and the level is fine, I wouldn’t worry.
