Default Clarification needed on fuel tank capacity

Working out my current MPG with all the gear loaded on my D2. I need an accurate figure so I ran the fuel level down until the fuel light came on then filled up until full and came back with only 21 gallons? Manual says 24.5 I believe. Pumped until the nozle clicked. Anyone else having same issue?

If you didn't run the tank dry, there must be fuel remaining in the tank just as the light illuminates. . ~3 gallons sounds about right.

We do all have same issues. Fuel nozzle click off varies wildly by mfg./station pump pressures/age of nozzles. Many use old school means to measure MPG that include basic math skills and knowing how to fill a tank to total capacity.

With all the cans on your rack may want not to worry too much.

I put 25.6 gallons in mine once (and I actually drove to the gas station, on fumes, apparently) when the filler handle failed to click off--that was up to the top of the filler neck.

Ultra-Gauge says Im getting around 7.5 mpg so I need to confirm that with some math. The fuel light was not on for more than afew miles max and I usally dont let the fuel level drop much below half a tank. I also tend to avoid filling up after the nozzle clicks because usally your moment from over filling the tank and spilling fuel all over the place. But 3 gallons reserve sounds probable.

Owners manual specifies 25 US Gallon tank.

The light comes on when about 4 gallons remain.

Uh dude. I know these things are gas hogs but that's awful mileage. Unless perhaps you drive with your foot to the floor all the time.

I get close to 13 mpg around town, depending on how much traffic I encounter, and close to 15 mpg on the road. (UltraGauge mileage)

The mileage you're reporting makes me think a vac leak leading to lean codes and the ECM trying to dump more fuel to restore the "proper" air/fuel ratios. Are you getting any codes?

That's about 175 miles per tank if you run it totally empty... or 154 miles if you're going form full to when the light comes on, which is only 246km in real units... pretty horrible fuel consumption if those numbers are real.

I'm sure you've been through all this, but did you set up your UG correctly with engine capacity, fuel tank size etc? You also need to tell it when it's full or tell it how much fuel you added for it to give a somewhat accurate measurement.
