Default Cleaned MAF, Throttle Body and IACV Valve. Now my motor dies after start up. WTH?

Engine starts, then immediately dies. Was running perfect before, but was doing some routine maintenance. The IACV valve was filthy, so I suspect that is what I messed up. I used MAF cleaner for the MAF, but regular Throttle body cleaner for the rest. Did the throttle body cleaner do something to the IACV valve or is there something else I'm missing here? Thanks! BTW, I have an '04 Disco II, 4.6L

Try turning the key to the on position and see if the IAC vibrates. If not, it's probably dead. I'm not saying that is your problem, just something to check.

Sounds to me more like the MAF is unplugged or a hose on the IAC is loose.

Well, it's the MAF. I unplugged it and the motor started right up. Guess I did something to it when I was cleaning it

I've heard a few people have problems after cleaning the Maf.

I killed my MAF by cleaning it and I've seen a few MAF's killed the same way. MAF's AFAIK are not designed to be cleaned even if they do sell stuff for cleaning them. LR don't recommend cleaning a MAF.

Man! That's weird. I clean them in all my vehicles at least once a year and I have never had a problem. And I use brake parts cleaner.

Yep. Never clean them. You can see a lot of threads when guys do the same thing. Even with MAF cleaner. Lesson learned I guess.

Mine was already on the fritz, I just pushed it over the edge. Found a new one for $30 online. It's not a Bosch, but I'll see how it works
