Default Code 0441

My Ultra Gauge shows this code 1x/ week. I have 54k miles. Every once in awhile or 1x/ within 3 weeks I hear what sounds like my SAI pump whine up and then stop. I did not see any loose connections. Thoughts?

Purge valve is likely source of the code, not part of the SAI system. Normal for SAI to test itself or run at odd time for short periods.

I get the 0441 code on the ultragauge every now and then while stopped at red lights or in heavy traffic. I replaced my purge valve with the cheaper hyundai one and I still get the 0441 code. I'm not sure if it is the cheaper one causing the problem or not so if you replace it then you might want to try the OEM part. The Disco still runs good so I just clear the code and keep driving. I'll buy the OEM part and replace it some day to see if it helps, but I'm not in a big rush.

As for your SAI kicking on while stopped. Mine does that too. I thought that the 0441 and the SAI kicking on were connected also, but after reading what savannah just wrote about it being normal, now I'm not so sure they are connected. I thought the SAI was only supposed to come on at start up.

Changed the purge valve with the Hyundai one. Noticed I was missing a clamp on the hose connecting to one side. Forgot to replace it when we did the wires, plugs, valve cover gaskets about a year ago. So far no 0441 and smoother idle. My D2 was burning rich and that was one of the signs including more oil leaks. This is on me for forgetting that clamp. Now I am going to pull a plug to inspect it on all those months burning rich.
