Default Code P0455 How do I tackle it?

I have a 2000 Disco II. When I got the rig running the dash looked like a Xmas tree. Got all those problems fixed. I have one problem left. Code P0455 appears on my ultra gage occasionally. It is a "pending" code, it does not trigger the check engine light. From what I can find it indicates a vacuum leak in the fuel system. My rig is a NAS vehicle with vacuum type leak detection only. I have put a new fuel cap on but that did not fix it. I have inspected all the plastic lines that I can see. There are a lot of places for wear that I can not see to inspect. I have went through the RAV and they explain how the system works but no trouble shooting guide. Anyone know of a guide or how to tackle this? If I were going to keep this rig for me I would just ignore it till it gets worse but I am sending it to California to my son and I do not want to send him a problem that I knew about. I am sure there will be plenty more that develop.

I have a small zip tie on the 90 degree rubber boot on the right side of the secondary air unit. I’ve noticed that as it’s become brittle - it will slide off very easily or unknowingly and throw that code. In my situation; the code is rectified at that spot.

I replaced my evap purge valve several years ago when I started popping this code. I first used a generic Hyundai unit and it resolved it for about a month, then 0455 came back again. Checked everything from the tank, to the fill tube, to the evap canister assembly, still no good. Finally I bench tested the the new purge valve and it would sometimes seal and sometimes not when I switched the coil on/off. Replaced that with a genuine OEM unit with the Hyundai logo and the code never re-appeared.

A change to a new gas cap is also a possible solution.

Well I did some research on testing the valves and I am going to do that next. That line that runs from the charcoal canister to the purge valve up and over the transmission is also on my list to check with my vacuum pump.

Tested my purge valve, closed as it should be. But does not open when I apply 12 volts. It has Bosch number on it but hard to come by around here. Red5 you mentioned an OEM Hyundai one. Do you know the year and application or the part number?

Bosch part number 0280142308 . Search on Rockauto. $26. Works great. Just installed one a few months back. Bosch 0280142300 works as well. They sell both. The 308 is for the 4.6 and the 300 is for the 4.0. I'm pretty certain they are interchangeable though.

I just ordered the Bosch 308 should be here in a couple days for $36 including freight. But I can not find the CVS valve on line and the local parts man could not find one reasonably priced. I am going to call Bosch and Dorman tomorrow.
