Last night I was in a hurry to pic up my son across town so I was a little heavy on the go pedal and the service engine light came on soon after. Used my code reader and came up with P0130 "O2 sensor circuit Bank1 Sensor 1", P0171 "Too lean", and P1171 "Unkown". Does anyone out there in roverland know what the P1171 means? I cleared the codes and they have yet to come back. What should I look at fixing to prevent future problems given this combination of codes? All the O2 sensors were replaced not more than 8 months ago. Thanks

 

1171 is another lean code for bank 1. I think your front left O2 sensor is faulty. Get it replaced under warranty before the year is up and gone.

 

I have the same exact codes, I'm replacing all 4 O2 sensors.. I had another one, something to do with the MAF, i cleaned it, cleared the codes and that one didn't come back! The rover is running smooth again, wouldn't ya know!

A MAF issue would give you codes on both banks

 

Cleaning the MAF, as mentioned tons of time on this and other forums, will kill them on D2's so plan on buying a new one soon.
By the way, only buy a in the Rover box new MAF, no after market or generic ones cause they will throw fault codes in our trucks.

 

Is MAF the "Massive Airflow Sensor"?

If so, my 2000 Disco started running so bad 4 or 5 weeks ago, that I thought there was a bent push rod or something. it was crazy how bad it ran.

The garage replaced the Massive Airflow Sensor (I think it was $260 from Atlantic British) and the Disco runs like new now.

 

MAF = Mass airflow sensor. But yours sounds much cooler.

I bet you have a vacume leak.

 

Quick question and hope I'm not throwing a wrench into the gears here. Why replace all 4 sensors??? I read from someone I have respect of his knowledge about Discos say only the front 2 matter and the back 2 only need to be reading very little. Of course this was in a space for D1's only.
