Default Codes and Rod Bearings...

Hey All need some help on the below codes...

P0455
P0134

Also, mechanic is telling me that the knocking sound I have been trying to figure out is a rod bearing. I have read around on the forums but haven't found a good thread on it yet. Anyone ever replaced these? How hard is it to do?

As always appreciate the assistance

P0134 O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
Check and make sure the connection is good, otherwise maybe a bad sensor.

P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross leak)
I would start by checking your gas cap. Have this problem all the time with my wife's saab 9-3 as her gas cap has a bad gasket so it leaks and we get the code for the same problem.

That's where I would start and then go from there.

Thanks Discomedic...

I checked the gas cap, seems like an aftermarket that doesn't quite fit correctly so going to replace that. New sensor is going in today.

get a new mechanic.....this guy sounds like he wants to make money ...not fix cars

unless hes checked oil pressure with a real gauge , or pulled the oil pan....theres a couple easy things that can cause a tick.... the last mechanic that told me i had a rod knock WAS WRONG...but i listened to him and learned the hard way

i wish repair shops took oath's like doctors do...

That oath means nothing to most Dr's.
My wife needs surgery, she cant eat and has lost 18lbs in alittle over a month.
The surgeon wont see her until the middle of August.
And this is to fix what he screwed up in the first surgery back in June.
I would trust a mechanic over a Dr.

NP man. Good luck with it. Make sure you post back once you get it fixed, that way others will know in the future.

You have my sympathy... been there and done that. My wife had surgery in September and I don't even want to think about it, that was one of the worst experiences in my life - it even beats me taking shrapnel in combat. This health system sucks... rant over.
May your wife have a speedy recovery.

Yes our health system does suck, basically Dr's get "piece rate", but when you dont have insurance you get screwed because they think you wont pay.
I could go on for hours...

Thanks for the wishes and prayers guys.
