Default coil pack question

I've been having some rough idling and slight bucking while driving my '03 disco. I've got Magnecor 8mm wires at the house and am picking up bosch platinum +4 tonight. My question is shouldn't this have caused a CEL to come on?

I'm concerned I have a bad coil, but should I wait to order a "Bosch" coil pack vs. the brands at the local parts stores? Locally they are cheaper from Napa and Autozone, but should I be concerned about quality?

I plan to do the wires and plugs, and then go from there, just curious of anyones experiences with chain store ignition parts.

Thanks,

Probably better off ordering quality parts. The CEL is for sensor malfunctions. Are you losing any coolant?

Wait on the coil. How many miles on the engine, when was it last tuned along with new 8 mm silicon plug wires and what octane are you burning?

I'm half way throught the wire and plug job. Plugs and wires were done on vehicle at 60K. It has 103K, so they are plenty due. I found what looks to be a spot where it was arching on by the back valve cover.

Magnecors and bosh p+4 going in.

Running 91-93 octane.

I'm thinking coils are good for now, that I found what looks to be an arch. I'll let you guys know how it ends.

Only codes matter.
Bucking, feelings, love, engine rough = bunk.
Look at the codes on the OBDII.
No codes, then drive until CEL comes on.

New wires and plugs and it runs good and smooth. The champion plugs that were in there for 50K looked terrible. Couple of the plug wires were questionalbe. Coils seem to be good for now.

I need a beer asap.
