Quick, dumb, question...I got the pair of coils from AB. Does it matter which coil goes on which side? I noticed some numbers stamped in the “cover” of the coils. I didnt give it any thought.

HA! I just found that coil/wire write up and was able to tell the those numbers go in the same place no matter which side the coil is on...had to ask though.

Changed the upstream 02s today. Couldn’t get the downstreams loose yet, gonna try again tomorrow. Fired up and idled really smooth, no SES light. Pulled out of the driveway and went for a drive. MUCH better power and ran smooth. Then the SES came on and rough idle returned. Codes are 1300 0301 0305 with a pending 0300.
The 0303 and 0307 are gone LOL
Only other thing I can think of it that I left the gap on the new NGK plugs at .044 but I’d think it would misfire on the other side as well.
Im about out of DIY options. Any ideas?

I'm wondering how much fuel quality matters. I bought mine from a guy who was getting it going after it had hit a deer, and it had missed 2 years of inspection. I think it had nasty fuel in it too from setting. I'm running 91 octane and doing well. I don't think the downstream have near the impact of the upstream. Have you looked under the hood in the dark to see if there are any sparks anywhere? How did your plugs look when you pulled them? Strange that you and I and others have issues with bank 1 and you never see anyone fighting misfires on bank 2....

Thought I’d clean this up a bit. Here’s where I’m at.

Changed plugs...NGK (7092) BKR6EGP G-Power...old plugs looked fine to me. Nothing abnormal. Have the old plugs and they are numbered if it would help to post pics.
Left the new plugs at .044 gap.

Changed coils.
Changed wires. Magnecor 8mm. Confirmed wires are correct.

Changed upstream 02s

Oil is crystal clear.
Oil filler cap is clean.

Temp runs 188-194. Also just fixed a very small coolant leak. ( I hope )

CurrentCodes are 1300 0301 0305 with a pending 0300.
(The 0303 and 0307 are now gone)

I am actually still on the first tank of fuel. I topped it off with 91 (half tank) and I put Seafoam in it. But just haven’t run it enough to go through the tank yet.

I did check under the hood in complete darkness. No sparks at all. I had previously sorted the wires as best I could so I guess that was good enough.

The old plugs looked pretty good to me (no expert). But I can post pics of the plugs in numbered order in case someone more knowledgeable than me can take a look. I’ll probably do that today or tomorrow.

My bank one US 02 sensor was pretty “rusty” looking. Which I think is from too fuel contamination...from the misfire I’m guessing.

It is weird thats bank 1 is the usual culprit. I’m going to throw the downstream 02s in as soon as I can since I have them. I even have new direct fit cats. But I’ll save those for later.

I guess my next steps is to test the coolant for gasses? Compression test? Run Seafoam through the intake?

Well the good thing is that I got this 03 for a song and I’ve not spent much in parts (not counting the cats) and done it all myself so far. LOL! I’m committed to getting it running smoothly so I’ll keep on keeping on.

Here’s a few pictures of the old 02s

Bank 2 upstream

Looks like the connector got a little singed at some point.

So, I mentioned in my thread that my o2 sensors had the orange connectors, which match the harness ends. Does that mean they were original yet? Is it normal for a sensor to last over 100k?

I would start with checking the compression on those cylinders. Then swapping wires 1 to 3. Then maybe plugs. If it still did not swap the misfires, I would then swap injectors. Leaking injectors on those cylinders?1 Plugged injectors?
