Default Compatibility between 4.0 & 4.6 MAF??

Ordered a MAF the other day for my '04 D2.
Noticed today the part numbers are different.

The one I ordered is listed as compatible for the 4.6 and ALSO the 4.0.

Are they?

Part # for 4.6 D2's MAF: 0 280 218 010

Part # for 4.0 D2's MAF: 0 280 217 532

Will the 4.0 MAF work in the 4.6? What's the difference??

Thanks guys!

While this is probably the reason there are Rover specific parts companies......no, they're not the same size and the assembly won't fit.

The only difference is the size of the barrel that the air filter lid and air intake hose connects to. 1999-2002 is small, 2003-2004 is larger.

The sensors itself has the exact same part numbers if you remove it from the barrel. At least it did on my 1999 and my 2003.

You guys are fast! I was just popping back in to report what I found from my quick searching after my post (should have searched first):
The guts are the same and the housings are different.
Good to know.
