Yes I sealed the bolts though not sure how good a job I did and I may have been lazy cleaning them. I may redo the bolts since I wont have to drop the oil pan to do that and see if that helps. That's a 20 minute "fix" if it works. How bad of a crack would a cylinder crack be if it leaks around 2 gal/week?

 

huge, again I would suggest a pressure tester.
if you losing the much coolant I would think under pressure you would be able hear it running into the oil pan
Also have to checked rug on the passenger side, could be a heater core


is the 8 quarts of coolant showing up in the oil pan?

 

Yes it is definitely into the oil. Whatever doesnt evap off I change out when it gets too bad before it starts eating my bearings. I also dont drive unless absolutely necessary (ie the 15 mile round trip to work, need to work for $$ to fix it!)

 

I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't already wiping out your bearings, id be asking someone for a ride rather than driving it.
even if it is evap. off? it would only be the H2o not the glycol, but we all have to do what best for us.

 

I have the green coolant so it should be safer. And from what I understand over time the coolant can cause the oil to become more alkaline which is what eats the coating off the bearings. That's not to say added friction wont hurt it either. I'm just stuck between a rock and a hard place really.

 

When there is any suspicion of coolant entering block/oil/cylinders, releasing the coolant pressure from the reservoir cap should had been a mandatory action every time after shutting engine off, otherwise coolant {under pressure} leaks into everything for a looong time, even all night.
