Default Convert rear fog lights

Anyone convert the red rear fog lights in the bumper to brighter white/clear backup lights? The rear fog Lights are useless.

The rear fogs work extremely well in the Fog or heavy rain so people behind you can see your tail lights vs slam into you. It's one feature I really like when driving in severe weather. I have Sylvania Zevo LED's in all of my D2 rear fogs.

They are handy when during inclement weather.
It is required to have fog lights on every vehicle here in the UK.

I wired two LED spotlights via relay into (thick green w brown?) reverse wire at driver footwell connector. These LEDs are mounted on roof rack (your avatar shows a roof rack). They provide plenty of back up light and cost was about 40$ with relay and wiring...

You mean like these: I have 7000 lumens of light out the back of my disco when I put her in reverse. It's like daylight behind my Landy when I am backing up.

I also kept the rear fog as I find them very useful to have.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have never been driving and wished i has brighter taillights but often I wish I had brighter backup lights. I was hoping for a clear insert that could replace the fog lights or like the old blue dots just insert a clear lens into the red lens. I like the idea of replacing with a series of led flood lights. 1 for back up lights and perhaps 2 that go on with the rear fog switch for a total of 3 lights in each opening. Plus I plan to add lights to the rear of the rack and to the sides. Mostly for at camp with a switch inside and on/off on each light. Any suggestions?

03-04 Bumper Lights = Red Lens = Fog Light & the Clear Lens = Reverse Light

Have you tried placing white Sylvania ZEVO LED's in the 03-04 reverse lens housings? On my 04 D2 I have a pair of LED's in there and since the reverse lights are mounted down on the bumper on 03-04 vs 99-02 where they're mounted up high I find the light output very good.

I have 03-04 bumper lights on my 99 and 02 D2, but I've got amber bulbs in them as 99-02 uses the bumper lights for turn signals. You'll think the Red Rear Fog lights are silly until you're at a dead stop in a nasty down pour and the guy speeding up behind you see's your much brighter rear Fog Lights and hits the brakes vs hitting you.

yes, rear fog lights come in very handy. Still does not excuse the random Audi driver who leaves them on 24/7, but they are useful.

Many years ago my wife and I went to visit the UK. Rented a car and it started to rain. I said, yes we can use the rear fog lights. I pulled what I thought was the rear fog light but it was the manual choke🤪 used a ton of gas in a short period of time. Odd thing was it never really ran any different.
