Default Converting from 2004 tail lights to 2002. Is it possible?

The rear lens finally cracked beyond repair on the 2004 and, as you all know, the 2003-2004 tail lights are simply not available anywhere, in any form. 2002 and earlier tail lights are in abundance, however. I even have a spare pair here in the garage. How involved would switching to those be? Doesn't seem too challenging? But I might be missing something.

I've never done it, but I thought I once read you can swap the harnesses which go into the cabin & it's PNP. Never have confirmed this or done the conversion myself.

On the one hand, it's just wires. You can cut and splice to your heart's content.

But, as you know, the '03-'04s have the backup lights in the bumper, and the '99-'02s have them in the high-mounted rear lights. Vice-versa for the turn signals.

Seems like it might not be that difficult for someone to cut, reroute and splice the wiring for those two functions, if they have the motivation and the skills.

I have no ideas about the connectors, but that's a possible obstacle that's possible to overcome.

I wonder if it would be possible to use orange bulbs where the reverse bulbs would normally be in the early lights, and not worry about rerouting any wiring. That would make the clear lenses flash orange for the turn signals. You might also be able to use the wiring assembly from the newer lights on the old casings, removing the need to do any splicing.

I was going to do this if rewiring is the route I go.

Brandon, does your question refer to the bumper-mounted lights or to the lights mounted higher up on the corners?

The body-mounted lights are the ones I can't source easily, but rewiring would involve both of course.
