Coolant cap failure
Ok, i'm on my third coolant tank cap in the last six months, i don't drive my disco that much so i'm wondering if i have other issue's. Temp gauge always goes to the normal position once at temp and never seems to get hot, Pressure build up? I changed my thermo stat a while ago, let it run for a long time with cap off to get air out. Any idea's?

1st off.. you do not, and cannot bleed the air out of that thing by letting it idle with the coolant cap off. tons, and i mean tons of thread on how to bleed the cooling system.
elevate the expansion tank.
remove expansion tank cap.
remove bleeder screw.. do not lose or break this thing.
pour coolant into the expansion tank untill you have passed a good amount of coolant out of the bleeder screw. tighten bleeder screw.. do not overtighten it. it will break.
fill expansion tank to about the seam on the tank, tighten cap.
as for failure of the cap.. your coolant system my be becoming overpressurized. a few reasons for that.
