Default Coolant Drain Plugs

This seems like a foolish question ... but I pay by the hour to use a garage to work on the disco so time is money and I've wasted plenty looking for the damn plugs. According to my tech manual there are two, one on the left and one on the right of the engine block and they appear (by the drawing) to be square head bolts. Can someone PLEASE take a picture or talk me to them as I have had no luck finding them to drain my coolant system.

I would suggest you not try and drain the engine block using those plugs. Most people have such a hard time bleeding the air out of the engine afterwards that they land up over heating the engine.

What would you suggest as the best method of flushing out my coolant system? Just pull the hose off the bottom of the radiator?

If it is a D2 you can only pull the hose at the t/stat. If it is a D1, I believe you have access to a lower hose on the radiator.
Do you know how to bleed the air out of the engine when you are done? Is it a D1 or D2, how many miles on the truck and are you changing the t/stat also?

It is an '03 D2 w/ 55k on the odometer. Pulling the t/stat hose doesn't seem like it would drain that much of the coolant. When is the recommended change interval for the t/stat? I haven't seen em for sale at the typical disco parts websites so assumed it wasn't a high turnover item.
