Default Coolant Flush Procedure

Hello All,

My 2003 Disco S is at 58,500 miles and im starting on the 60k service. What do you guys recommend the best coolant flush procedure be? I am attempting to do as much of the 60k service my self.

I have the Rave CD to go off of by but if you guys know of any tips or tricks I should follow in addition to the CD, I plan to just follow ALL procedures to do the 60k service straight out of the CD.

And should I use a 50/50 pre mixed coolant like Prestone?

THANKS!!

YES use the 50/50 premix, Prestone is good. Just make sure that you get all the old coolant out first because DexCool is not compatible with other coolants.

Do a search for my "antifreeze" post, in it you will find how to flush the cooling system. It should only be a few pages back.

With the engine off, open the hood fill the bottle all the way to the top, unhook the bottle from its position, hold it as high as possible I held it up using bungee cords hooked to the hodd inner holes but a second person would be easier. while the bottle is held up high, unsrew your bleeding bolt to let the air out. When only coolant is coming out ( meanwhile make sure that the bottle doesn't go out of coolant and be ready to had more if it takes longer than it sould to bleed the air), put the bleeding bolt back, put the bottle back in its place, fill with coolant to the full levelline ( a little more is o.k) Then go for a drive. Let it cool down completely ( like overnight!!) and correct the coolant level if need be.

just wanted to add that some of the coolant will stay in the block unless you pull the t-stat and open the block drains. I would flush with water a couple of times if you are not refilling with Dexcool. Then check your mixture, as you will have reidual water left in the block.

Make sure not to mix if they are not compatible. Dexcool will make glycol gel, and it is extremely corrosive if it comes into contact with air...
