Default Coolant issue with inline thermostat

Wanted to ask if anyone has had this issue with a inline thermostat. I installed the inline and finally got a digital temp reader wired up. I noticed right away that coolant came from the reservoir and the level is about a inch lower than the line. If I undo the cap to the reservoir the reservoir will level out. After a few days Ive noticed that im not loosing anymore fluid but the level is still lower than the line. Yesterday driving home the temp started creeping up. By the time I got home (15 min drive) the gauge read 206 before I shut it down. The level of coolant in the reservoir is still an inch low. Not sure whats going on with it. Any help would be great, Thanks

Did you follow the correct procedure to re-fill the tank, lift the expansion tank off the brackets and fill ?
Is the hole in thermostat at the top most point or close to.

It sounds very much like you have air in the system still.

@me 2 that is a big part of problem, you have lots of air left in the system. You need to lift the take to get the air out as you fill.

I would try taking the tank out of the brackets lift as high as you can, and top up until it stays at the line. Then top up as required for a few days.

Did you do the bleed procedure included in the instructions? Buzzing the engine to 2500 ish rpm? Have you topped off the reservoir?

Agreed. Fill the reservoir almost to the top. Leave cap off. Let truck warm up. Rev engine to 2500rpm for 15 seconds at a time, 2-3 times. Shut off. Put cap on. Drive a few days and monitor. Any extra coolant will spit out the overflow tube and level should stabilize. My truck stabilizes just below the full line, then never moves. Each truck is a bit different.

When I installed the inline I had a similar issue with the temp going up to about 210 on first warm up. In my case I started from a mostly empty cooling system as I had also installed a new front cover / oil pump. I ended up removing the hose to the manifold neck and pouring coolant down that to fill first vs using only the reservoir tank. This fixed it.

I also found it difficult to completely bleed the cooling system with the inline thermostat so I purchased a spill-free coolant funnel and the trapped air was able to escape with zero drama.

this is completly normal the lower the temp the lower the coolant level inside reservoir, the higher the temps the level goes up, this is about pressure, lower temps = less pressure less coolant higher temps = more pressure more higher levels
