Coolant leak back of engine.
I have a 2000 Disco II and I have a coolant leak that is leaking toward the back of the engine. What could this be? From my understanding the common throttle body leak would be more toward the front of the engine actually I am not really sure.....I hope it's not the dread head gasket. Any Help is greatly appreciated.

Probably the head gasket leaking at the #7 or #8. Which is relatively good news, since a head gasket failure at 3-6 would probably mean a cracked block.
Clean all of the grime and crap from the engine, and fire it up to pinpoint the leak. If it's at the rear, it'll either be at the back of the head between the head and block, or from above that. Between the head is the HG, from anywhere above that, either the TB heater block, or the lower IM gasket is gone.

Are you sure it's coolant? It could be condensate from the A/C.
Also, which side of the engine bay? It could be a leak at the heater hoses if it's on the passenger side.
Start with a pressure tester. Pump it up to 15 psi, get a flashlight and check everything to include laying down underneath the truck and look at the underside of the heads, both front and back. Look for liquid coolant, but also look for a trail of dried/hardened coolant.
Also, which side of the engine bay? It could be a leak at the heater hoses if it's on the passenger side.

It's very common for the intake manifold gasket to leak. Dex-Cool has a plasticizer in it that softens the RTV used on the rubber gaskets at the front and rear of the lower intake manifold, creating a leak. Whatever you find out the cause to be...get rid of the Dex-Cool!!!

Find two bolts in your junk bin and bypass. See my previous posting. You don't need coolant running through this at all - just made it through a rough PA winter with it bypassed as I did and absolutely no issues with idling or running at all my Disco is my daily driver to work and back.
