Default Coolant leak, overheat and P306

All,
Yesterday my 2001 Disco 2 gave me a P306 code and I had coolant coming out of the cap and overflow tube.
This morning I cleared the code and drove it around the block and I got the overheat light, the same code and more coolant from the cap and tube.
I had a complete head gasket repair late last summer at a fairly reputable Rover repair garage.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks for the time.

Well you are overpressured and cylinder 6 is misfiring, you need to stop driving your truck. That light comes on a 244 F so either your head gasket has failed or your cooling system is dead water pump/ rad. Bad news is that cylinder 6 is not beside the cooling passages that pass through to the head, so it could be a cracked block at worse case.

Check you oil filler cap and dipstick for white/yellow deposits, cracked blocks tend to dump water into the oil so you oil level may also be high
Start by getting your cooling systems checked, that can be done engine off, you need to check the rad and water pump.
If they both appear to good, you are into an engine tear down

By the time the overtemp light comes on, you are already in serious trouble. This is why so many people run an Ultragauge or other reliable temperature monitor. The factory gauge does not give sufficient warning.
As said, you need to stop driving immediately and get the engine checked out. Coolant coming out of the overflow tank as you are describing indicates that there's pressure building somewhere. Could be a serious clog and the water pump is pushing coolant back into the overflow, or you have a crack somewhere and combustion is pressurising the coolant system.

How far does it drive before overheating? First step would be to check coolant level and 2nd step would be to check for a stuck thermostat (most common failure behind low on coolant). Will it idle in the driveway without overheating? Yes, - plugged radiator. No? Stuck thermostat or worse. As others have said, at this point the damage is likely done. Probably need to call the shop that did the work.

Thanks for the reply Richard. Very helpful. Oil looks fine and I just completed a oil change last week.

Well if it will idle without overheat not the thermostat, so either blocked radiator or blown something.

Update on my Disco.
Repair shop said the #6 cylinder sleeve has slipped and is allowing coolant into the engine and subsequent overheating. So with that said he recommended a new engine.
Wondering if any of the smart guys/gals out here agree with this diagnosis with this limited info and would there be any other pathways to repair?
Thanks all for the time.
