Have an 02 w/ 75K, noticed a coolant leak, no temperature issues (have been running heater b/c of outside temps though), coolant tank was almost empty when I noticed.

Leak is coming from rear of engine compartment, near the firewall. There is a rusty line (seen in photos) that is oxidized and is covered in coolant. It is not spraying coolant when engine is on. Seems to be a steady leak though. Tried to trace the highest point of the leak and it seems to be near above these two metal lines.

Stop driving it, you have either a leaking valley pan gasket and or head gaskets.
How mechanical are you?

 

Mechanical - slightly. I replaced the plugs on this one rather than pay the $1300 the dealer quoted me. I've seen the discussions regarding the replacement of this/these pieces. How's the best way to determine which piece is faulty?
