Default Coolant Leak- Radiator hose questions

OK, just got this 2001 disco running, replaced the head gaskets and runs great.

Except....

I have two leaks.

One is the ACE, trying to pinpoint. Work in progress.

The other, developed today, is a coolant leak. I traced it back to the top radiator hose- the one with a round/hole/fitting in it. It sits atop the fan shroud. When I squeeze the hose, coolant comes out of that little hole/vent/wetf it is. When the engine is running, coolant mists out of it.

What is this for? Why is there a hole there for God sakes.

Is this simply a matter of changing the hose?

everyday is something new.... God save the queen- she needs it.

Thanks in advance for the input.

Also, there is no screw or cap on that threaded hole on the top radiator hose.

That is the bleeding screw for the coolant system, you have the old style. The newer style replaced that with a bleeding screw in the T in the upper hoses.

Thanks Bundu... looked it up and see what you mean. Looks like I can buy the screw for $6 or buy the hose for $60....

FWIW... the screw is missing. Cant believe the mechanic shop would send me on my way with new head gaskets and no screw in that top hose. Seems like a recipe for disaster or sabotage or carelessness. I mean, its supposed to have a screw there- right.

Would you guess its been leaking since i picked up from the shop- a week ago and 100 miles of driving. Thankfully no overheat....

Check with the shop, my guess is they bled the system and forgot to put it back on. I'm not sure how, but I don't see you going too far without it.
