Coolant pump on a 2001 DII - Difficult?
Quick question: What is the degree of difficulty replacing a coolant/water pump on a DII? I have coolant leaking out from behind the pump. According to the rave manual, there aren't many steps to it. From reading other posts, it seems the viscous clutch removal is the most difficult part. Anyone with experience, please let me know before I take to a local shop (quoted ~ $500 for pump and new serp belt). Any watchouts would also be helpful. I have worked on other cars and am somewhat handy with the tools, but have not worked on the Rover other than brakes, plugs, and the like.
Thanks,

I replaced the water pump gasket on my D2 back in Oct. I used a strap wrench to hold the pulley to loosen the fan. All in all, the job was easy. Also, I remember lipadj46 posting how he loosen the fan clutch.

If you've never done it before, it can't hurt to get a spare gasket.
Did you have 18" factory wheels? If not, you don't have ACE. :-)
(Also, your PS reservoir will be split with 2 caps, if you do have it.)
