After looking through many threads of people doing their head gaskets I've noticed people ask why such a small hole in the front of the block and if anyone has made it larger?

Has anyone actually done it, as in make the hole larger or even drilled another hole opposite it?
I'm curious because I have to do my head gaskets and wondering if I should try it
