Going to continue this adventure here to stop clogging up @Extinct and @Mntnceguy threads as those mods don't seem to be the issue.

Here's the 2nd interstate run with "packing" around the sides of the radiator and a top cover over the gap to help force all available air through the radiator. Ambient Temps were about 10F cooler than the last run which may explain the lower max temp. I think my next move is to move the temperature sensor. It's installed where DCC recommends, near the lower outlet radiator hose, granted on the Ford fan shroud there are louvers that open up when there is enough air moving through the radiator. I don't know if that extra air flow is causing the temps to be read incorrectly.
  • How much does the stock clutch fan do when at speed on the interstate?
  • These runs are still with no thermostat installed, is that not leaving coolant in the radiator long enough to cool adequately?
  • Could the factory(?) water pump not be circulating the coolant enough to return cool coolant to the engine?
  • Dumb Question: Do different coolants operate at different temperatures, Factory Dexcool, Universal Green, Zerex G05, Zerex Asian?

Here are the temp readings from various place while idling after the Interstate run with the AC/Fans on and OBD Coolant temp reading 188.6F.

Metal coolant tube on the lower intake: 3 readings 156.6, 162, 175.8
On the hose before the inline thermostat: 141.1
Heater Hoses:
Intake Manifold beside coolant sensor: 161.2
Oil Pan: 3 readings 122.7, 135, 139.5

Could be the sensor location, that will be the coolest coolant temp - lower rad hose. The stock sensor is on top of the intake manifold, I believe. But I would think the DCC sensor should be at the same point as the stock sensor.

Apparently DCC designed their product to be placed at the radiator outlet.

The FK system will typically keep an engine within + /- 1 1/2 degrees, this is only possible with the short time delay from sensing at the radiator outlet. Moreover, this allows the fan to shut off while the car is at speed, an advantage that a relay based controller doesn't have.

I ordered a 1/4 to 1/8 NPT reducer to put a temp probe in the Extinct inline thermostat housing to verify coolant temps against the factory Coolant sensor.

A little tinkering to verify the PWM output is working.

50% AC on

AC off idling 183F

AC off, idling 186F

183-186 at idle is pretty decent

So far I'm happy with idle and around town, but interstate creeps up higher than I'd like.

I have a "desert spec" 175 degree LR thermostat and those are the temps I usually see. As long as I do not let my speed exceed 70mph, I never see over 190. It will creep to 195 if I am towing my sailboat.

Great report @Sandman614 !

Maybe I missed it but did you try to bypass the DCC ant run at constant 12V?

I have not. That seems counter intuitive for interstate running?
