Default Copart and erepairables

So these 2 sites have damaged vehicles and you bid on them kinda like ebay. With coparts you need to hire a broker for 200 bucks but with erepairables they are the broker and charge you 250 bucks.

Lots of rovers on there in various states. I bid on a 2011 nissan xterra with a fubar tranny and got it for 875 bucks. I go to pick it up tomorrow.

Just fyi for anybody needing a project this winter.

They are ok, but I much prefer private sellers. You get better service history, no extra fees, and you can drive it if actually runs.

Well that's all fine and dandy. But let me explain the math to ya.

A truck with 90k miles is bought for 875 plus 200 broker fee equals 1075. I will haul it home. I bought a good tranny for 800 plus a new radiator for 100 so now I am at 1975.

I install tomorrow. On monday i have a truck worth 9000. Tell me what i am doing wrong here. Go pick up a rover for a few hundred and knock yourself out.

I’ve been looking around Copart for a while. Just scared to pull the trigger. Sounds like a good pick up on your part.

I was gonna buy a 250.00 clean D1, by the time the auction was over it was 5,500.00...... I’ll stick with CL/FB MP, or friends for my LR finds.

I think location has a lot to do with it. Also the ones in accidents will have salvage titles I was looking for one with mech problems and a clean title. Those 2nd gen xterra and pathfinders have a weird quirk where the radiator goes out and dumps into the tranny causing all kinds of hell. It was my first time using copart but I just got her home and she is a real peach.

Good find if you got one with only 90k on it! $800 is way too much for a good transmission - if it won't move in forward at 90k it is definitely the front clutch and you can fix that for around $100 in parts by replacing the front clutch and the pump seals.

Let us know if you really $9k for it. I have sold 11, most I ever got for one was $7000 for an 03 with 119k on the clock. When I sell them EVERYTHING works, usually with new head gaskets, no leaks, no rust (I won't buy rust buckets), new headliners, etc. I usually spend 6-12 months on them sorting out every defect because I don't want buyers to have issues. Good luck, I look forward to hearing how you make out.

If you read the first post you will notice.that I was bidding on a 2011 nissan xterra with 90k miles not a rover. I can get 9k for this any day of week.
