Default Coscast/RPI Block!

I bought an 04' parts truck. Truck had almost 180K miles. Owner told me that the motor had been replaced under warranty during the previous owners reign. Of course I didn't believe him. Unfortunately after the head gasket blew he removed the spark plugs and never put them back and the truck sat for a few months. The liners had rust and the motor was seized.

I tore the motor down a few months ago and can remember looking at the tappet area and thinking somebody went in with a grinder and really cleaned the area up.

Last night I found some photos of their block, and it matched mine. They also said their bearing end caps were superior, but I couldn't remember if I kept them.

Just looked at the block and its one. And the serial numbers on the end caps match the serial number on the block.

Seems that this block is superior based on the cylinder wall thickness.

Anybody else seen this?

if you believe their story coscast hired to improve the rover block in case they did not go to BMW engines.
the blocks are cast thick were needed, and have largest water jacket, when the deal fell threw they sold the blocks of to RPI.
Who immediately sold out of them at crazy prices, and there was never another run as far as i know.
would have been a great candidate to top hat.

I looked at the current listing, but they don't talk up the blocks like I saw previously.

I'm wondering if they are using these superior blocks or just top hating stock blocks?

For sale: Coscast block- 1 million dollars!

What a shame. Did they destroy the tooling or something? if they really are that much better why not keep making them. Oh well.

I'm searching now. There has to be more out there. I saw drillbit had one out of a 2004 for sale years back on Dweb. I'm wondering if it's just a coincidence that I found mine in an 04'.
