couple Q's about buying a discovery
I am planning on buying a 2nd Gen Discovery and have some questions about options and aftermarket upgrades. I am mainly looking at getting a '00 thru 04' Disco in the range of 70,000-120,000 miles. My first question is... what factory options are a Go or No-Go for a guy who will use this as a secondary weekend type vehicle ( hunting, off-road hobby driving, a little bit of crawling ). I want or plan to add locking diffs, and a 2" lift to it, as well as bumpers and winch. I don't want to buy one now and find out later that I can't do certain upgrades because of factory limitations.
- Do all Disco II's have Traction Control? Should I have it?
-What is the center locking option?... ( I know what locking is, but why call it center? )
I have had a few different 4x4's in the past including a YJ Wrangler, a Cherokee Sport and a Samurai. I have been well served by these 4WD's and now I want to buy the king!
Right now I have a '03 Z71 Silverado and I am very dissapointed (hate it) that I cannot install a front locking Diff.. plus I no longer need a pickup box, so I am now converting to...
Landrover!!!

CDL just makes the front/rear drive shaft turn at the same rate by locking the transfer case..not the axles like a locker...might want to price mods like bumper and locker before you buy one they're expensive for rovers.
Ok , do D II's have LSD's front and rear then? I see vids where tires won't turn until a lot of throttle is given and then BLAMM it will jump into action. Thats why I ask about traction control. I seriously hate open diff's.
they have open diffs but the traction control system applies brake to the wheel that is spinning so power can be transferred to the wheel that has traction..works great until it all goes horribly wrong (search for 3 amigos problem on here)
