Block cracked, is it just alot of cast aluminim scrap or can it be
resleeved? Also, has anyone had a head that the machine shop said was good but still leaked when heated? Anyone with a good Disco II short block? 2000 Disco II. Ted

Exactly what is wrong with your block and how do you know?
What state do you live in? Is this a SAI Bosch, or a Bosch engine?

While driving car last winter the heat suddenly stopped working and a few minutes later engine overheated. Antifreeze pushing out of overflow tank and some out tail pipe. Heads removed both checked out at machine shop, new head gasgets installed but still have same problem. Check Engine light on indication of a missfire no. 5 cylinder. Any ideas?

Was the blocked checked for a dropped sleeve or a crack when it was apart?

When engine was apart only a visual inspection was done, by a mechanic, who did not see any problems. I'm going to have the car towed home from the shop and will start a new tear down shortly. What should I look for? I had planned on buying a used engine tearing it down and putting new gasgets on it. What is your opinion? Thanks for your assistance.

I would buy a used engine and then replace the head gaskets while it was out of the truck and then take your old block and heads to the scrape metal yard and get some of your money back.

Before you buy another engine, inspect yours first, looking for a flaw in the head gasket, loose head bolt, warped head, dropped sleeve and using some chemicals, check dor a crack in the head and block.
Then get back to us.

you need to take down the entire engine to check for a sleeve issue. no one can take off the heads and tell you one way or the other. there is a "glue" line on the bottom of the sleeve and that can be inspected. it needs to have a magnetic particle Inspection to be sure.
